Other embroidery essentials
With fabric, thread and a needle and a pattern on your fabric, you are actually ready to start working on the embroidery that you want to do. However, there are a lot of other tools that you can use and keeping them in your embroidery kit at all times will help you be more organized so that you do not have to stop in the middle of a nice afternoon with the embroidery on your lap because you do not have the right supplies.
Embroidery hoops are essential to keep the fabric tight as you work. These help you maintain better consistency in the stitches that you create. In addition to that you shall also be able to stitch faster when you use an embroidery hoop. Most of the hoops that you get in the market are round, oval or square in shape.
A scroll frame is not something that you will need for smaller projects. However, it is something that you may find useful when you have a large project that requires large amounts of fabric to be managed. The scroll frame keeps the fabric rolled up so that it does not have to lie in your lap.
You may also find that there are days when you can use a thread conditioner or beeswax. Products such as these are great when you need to manage unruly thread that seems to look too hairy. You can also use a pattern holder with a magnifying glass so that you can count the stitches. Laying tools, awls, water soluble marking pens and pencils, thread keepers and temporary canvasses are also great to have in your embroidery kit.
